A: The normal clearance for the bottom bunk is 14.5 In. Yes, you can use it with regular 8 ft. ceiling. The space under the bed will depend on the thickness of the mattress.

Q: Hi! I am looking at the brute solid wood twin bunk beds. Would the 69 inch frame work for a ceiling heigh of 9-0 inches if I use a thin mattress or would i need to adjust? The top bed would be used much less frequently so I'd like to maximize space on the bottom bunk and stick to the minimum up top.
Also, your site says: "We assume you will use an 8 In. Mattress which will give you a clearance of about 55 In. for the 69 In."
Does that mean 55 inches from the top of the mattress on the bottom bunk to the bottom of the top bunk frame?
Please help me customize so I can accommodate a guest as comfortable as possible in the bottom bunk while still having a usable top bunk that will be used less frequently. We could reduce the bottom 14 inch clearance if necessary?
A: If you use a thinner mattress you do not need to adjust. The 55 in is from the bottom of the top mattress to the floor.
