Getting up to your new loft bed is a breeze with flexible access options to fit your space and style. The standard configuration includes an integrated ladder at each end—but you’re not locked in! Ladders can be positioned at either end or even swapped out for a style that better suits your setup.
Custom Ladder Choices:
The standard ladder extends comfortably for easy climbing, but if you're tight on space, we can make you a shorter version at no extra charge. Need even less overhang? For just a little more, a low-profile ladder option hugs the frame for maximum floor space below.
Staircase Upgrade:
Want something even sturdier—and with storage? Opt for the matching wooden staircase, designed to support up to 500 lbs. Each step doubles as an open cubby for shoes, books, or even your secret cookie stash. Add an optional handrail for extra safety, especially if kids or midnight snackers will be using it.
Staircase Dimensions:
If you're unsure which option will work best in your room, just let us know—our design team is happy to recommend a solution tailored to your exact space and needs.
You have options when it comes to accessing your loft bed—choose what best fits your space and your style.
Whether you stick with the standard ladders or go with the staircase, you’ll have a reliable, secure way to get up and down from your new lofted kingdom.
Looking to upgrade your loft bed experience? You can add a sturdy, matching wooden staircase as an accessory. The staircase is built tough—rated for up to 500 lbs—making it both practical and safe for adults.
But it’s not just about getting up to bed with ease. The staircase boasts integrated open cubbies under each step, giving you bonus storage to stash shoes, books, or whatever else you want out of sight but within easy reach. Prefer a little extra support on the climb? A handrail can be added as well.
Staircase Dimensions:
Each staircase is crafted to fit the loft bed perfectly—just another way to make the most of your vertical space.
The Loft-Bed Does Not Include A Mattress In The Price—But The Good News Is, You Have Options.
You won’t need a box spring. Any standard innerspring mattress, such as those from Sealy, Serta, or Simmons, works perfectly with this frame. We suggest using an 8" mattress for maximum headroom underneath, though any mattress between 8" and 12" thick fits just right.
Planning to use a memory foam mattress from brands like Tempur-Pedic or Zinus? You’ll want to make sure the mattress rests on a flat, supportive surface to prevent sagging between the slats.
We can help with that—just let us know if you’d like to add:
Both options ensure your memory foam mattress stays in tip-top shape and gives you the support you need. If ordering a mattress elsewhere, confirm the thickness and support requirements, especially if you’re leaning toward plush memory foam styles.
Let us know your preferences when ordering and we’ll make sure all the right parts are included, so you can sleep soundly from night one!
Yes, you can absolutely add a handrail to your staircase. When you're customizing your Adult Loft Bed, just select the staircase option and you'll see the handrail as an accessory that can be included. The handrail is designed to fit seamlessly with the staircase and provide a bit of extra security, especially if you'll be using the steps frequently. This upgrade is often chosen along with the staircase, which already includes open cubbies beneath each step for added storage. Just be sure to check the appropriate boxes when configuring your order, and we’ll make sure your staircase arrives ready for safe and easy access.
Wondering if you'll find the right mattress size for your new loft bed? Absolutely. Our loft beds are designed to accommodate all standard mattress sizes—including twin, full, queen, and even king—so you aren't locked into any one configuration. Whether you already have a favorite Serta queen or you're eyeing a budget-friendly Zinus twin, you'll find our frames ready to handle it.
Need something off the beaten path? We also build to your specifications—including extra-long twin and custom lengths for those “dorm XXL” or hard-to-fit spaces.
Keep in mind: While you’re free to use any mattress brand of your choice, we recommend sticking with an 8-inch thick mattress to maximize clearance and comfort beneath the loft. If you need more headroom under the bed, simply opt for a thinner mattress and let us know your preferred measurements when ordering.
And because your sleep comfort shouldn’t be an afterthought, we’re happy to help you select the perfect size and style—whether you’re partial to memory foam, hybrid, or classic innerspring from trusted brands like Tuft & Needle, Casper, or your local mattress shop.
We often get asked which is better: a metal loft bed or a wood loft bed? Both have their fans, and both can easily support adults—so what sets them apart?
Strength & Stability: Modern metal loft beds (like those from DHP or Walker Edison) are known for serious weight capacity and minimal flex. Solid wood frames—especially those made from premium Douglas fir or European beechwood—are equally tough and, in some cases, quieter with less creak over time.
Style & Aesthetics: Metal lofts lean industrial—think clean lines, powder-coated finishes, sometimes a bit utilitarian. Wood loft beds offer a warmer and more natural look, with options to stain, paint, or leave the wood grain visible for rustic or classic vibes.
Customizations: Wood is typically the winner if you want odd sizes, built-in bookcases, added stains, or custom stairs. It’s easier to adjust ladder placement, add shelving, or choose unique finishes with wood. Metal options are more standardized.
Maintenance & Longevity: Metal beds resist scratches and are easier to wipe down, but wood can last just as long if properly cared for (occasional tightening of bolts, maybe a fresh coat of finish after a few years).
Assembly: Both require some home assembly, but a heavy wood frame may require one extra helper. Metal frames are often a bit lighter to handle solo.
Bottom line: For a sleek, industrial look, or if you’re after something lightweight, metal is a great pick. If you want custom features, a cozy feel, or a specific finish to match your existing furniture, wood has the edge. Both will hold up to daily use and give you that valuable space underneath.
Looking to pair your new loft bed with a comfy mattress? You’re in luck—we offer specially crafted 10-inch memory foam mattresses that are made to order to fit your setup perfectly. You can choose from five different firmness levels to suit your sleeping style, whether you like it soft and plush or prefer more support.
Mattresses can be conveniently added while building your bed order, or picked up separately if you prefer. By default, we send a Medium firmness option, but if you’d like it softer or firmer, just let us know in the Notes during checkout and we'll make sure your mattress matches your preference.
Note: Twin XL, Queen, and King sizes are all available, so you can customize your entire sleep experience—from frame to mattress.
Rush Production and Faster Delivery Options
If you're in a hurry to get your loft, we offer a Rush Production service. For an additional 0 per bed, your order will move to the front of the line and ship out within 15 business days. This option can significantly speed up delivery if you need your bed sooner than our standard timeline.
This turned out to be an awesome experience. I had to custom order the bed and Jonah called to confirm he understood what I wanted before they started to cut the lumber. A little nervous about it but they walked me through the dimensions etc before I ordered. I had a lot of questions regarding extra supports to buy and they were very patient and answered all my questions. In addition, I ordered expedited service and they were quick! The loft was delivered in 8 days. Awesome job.
If you’re considering a custom loft bed, it’s good to know they can build to just about any dimensions you need—even if what you’re looking for isn’t listed on the website. There is an additional fee for custom sizing, but it was clearly explained up front: a base fee and then a bit extra per foot for making it to your exact specs. I really appreciated how transparent they were about what qualifies as a “custom” order and the pricing involved. It made the whole process feel straightforward—no surprises, just clear communication and a willingness to make sure you get exactly what you want.
