Question 2.

Ladder Extension Options & Pricing

The ladder that comes with your bunk features flexible positioning, allowing you to place it just where you need. For standard lofts suited to a 9-foot ceiling, the ladder extends 20 inches out from the bed. Prefer a more compact setup? Question 3.

How can bunk beds help maximize space and enhance functionality in a room?

Why Bunk Beds Are the Smart Choice for Space and Function

Need to squeeze more out of every square foot? Bunk beds are the go-to solution for making the most of limited space without sacrificing style or comfort. By stacking sleeping areas vertically, you instantly open up valuable floor space—making room for desks, beanbags, or even that mini fridge you’ve been eyeing.

Interior designers love bunk beds because they offer:

  • Versatility: From cozy college dorms to family guest rooms, bunk beds fit in almost anywhere.
  • Smart Storage Options: Many designs allow for built-in shelves, drawers, or even an entire study nook beneath the bed—a game-changer in small apartments.
  • Customizable Layouts: Whether you need twin over twin, twin over full, or something more creative, bunk beds adapt to your specific needs. And since you can select the wood finish and staircase location, it’s easy to match your existing décor.
  • A Modern Touch: With clean lines and premium materials like solid Douglas Fir, bunk beds add that cool, intentional look to any space.

The result? More room to move, work, and live—without the clutter. Whether you’re outfitting your first apartment or upgrading a campus rental, these beds are designed to help you do more with less space.

Question 4.

In what types of spaces are bunk beds commonly used (cabins, lake houses, guest rooms, ski resorts, dorms, teen rooms, interior design projects)?

Versatile Spaces Perfect for a Loft Bed

Whether you’re outfitting a cozy cabin in the woods, designing the ultimate beach house retreat, or transforming a guest room to maximize sleeping space, this solid wood bunk bed fits right in. You’ll find our beds are right at home in ski resorts (where every square inch counts after a day on the slopes), college dorms, and teen bedrooms needing that extra touch of style and functionality.

Interior designers frequently use these beds in projects for their versatility and timeless appeal. No matter where you want to create more space—an Airbnb rental, a mountain getaway, or your own home—these sturdy beds make it possible without sacrificing comfort or durability.

Question 5.

Do bunk bed frames require a box spring?

Mattress Requirements—No Box Spring Needed

You might be wondering if you need a box spring with this sturdy bunk bed. Good news—the answer is no! This loft is designed to support a standard innerspring or memory foam mattress directly on the included slats. We recommend using a mattress that’s 8 to 12 inches thick for optimal comfort and support. Simply place your chosen mattress directly onto the frame, and you’re all set—no box spring required.

Question 6.

How can bunk beds benefit interior designers and their projects?

Why Bunk Beds Are a Designer’s Best Friend

Bunk beds do more than save space—they open up a world of possibilities for interior designers seeking both function and flair in their projects. By incorporating bunk beds, designers can:

  • Maximize floor space: Perfect for urban apartments, tiny homes, and vacation cabins where every square inch counts.
  • Create streamlined, modern looks: These beds offer clean lines and uncluttered profiles that blend seamlessly with contemporary interiors.
  • Introduce playful or sophisticated elements: Whether aiming for cozy kid-friendly vibes or sleek guest rooms, bunk beds adapt easily to your chosen style.

With thoughtful add-ons—think integrated bookshelves or a custom ladder—bunk beds become centerpiece solutions that don’t sacrifice comfort or creative potential.

Question 7.

Are there any additional fees or restrictions for shipping to certain addresses?

Additional Shipping Fees and Restrictions
In some cases, shipping to certain locations may require an extra fee if delivery costs are higher than average for your area. If this applies to your order, we’ll let you know before anything is finalized—you’ll always have the choice to approve the additional charge or cancel your order for a full refund.

Question 8.

What information should customers provide for special delivery requirements?

Special Delivery Instructions

If you have any unique delivery requirements—such as living in a high-rise building, having a long or narrow driveway, gated community access, restricted delivery hours, or similar circumstances—please let us know ahead of time. Be sure to include details like gate codes, elevator access info, or preferred delivery times in the Special Instructions section during checkout. This helps us coordinate with the carrier (think UPS, FedEx, or local freight teams) for a smooth and timely delivery.

Question 9.

What delivery options are available, and what do they include?

Delivery Choices Made Simple

Your bed ships for just 5, with several delivery options to suit your needs:

  • Curbside Delivery: We'll bring your bed right to your curb, by either UPS Ground or a freight carrier. You'll want a friend nearby to help move your new bed inside.
  • In-Home Delivery: If you'd prefer a little extra help, we can bring your bed into your home and set it in the room you choose—even if it means going up two flights of stairs.
  • Assembly Available: For those who’d rather leave the setup to someone else, our white glove service can deliver and assemble your bed. This premium service includes bringing everything inside, unpacking, assembly, and removing any packaging.

These delivery services are available throughout the contiguous U.S. Additional fees may apply for deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Canada.

Question 10.

What maintenance tips are recommended for bunk beds?

Keeping Your Bunk Bed in Great Shape

Routine care helps your bunk bed last for years. Wipe down the frame regularly with a damp cloth to keep dust at bay—no harsh chemicals needed. Now and then, check all bolts and hardware to make sure everything stays sturdy and squeak-free; a basic Allen wrench and screwdriver will do the trick.

If you've decided to stain or finish your bunk bed, use a gentle cleaner like Seventh Generation or Method wood cleaner for touch-ups. For unfinished wood, keep moisture to a minimum to avoid warping. And every few months, inspect guardrails, ladders, and joints for wear or loose fittings—safety always comes first. Just a few moments of upkeep and a pinch of elbow grease will keep your bunk bed looking—and feeling—solid.

Question 11.

How can customers request color samples of bed materials and finishes?

Requesting Color Samples

If you'd like to check out the look and feel of our aluminum bed materials or painted finishes prior to your purchase, we've got you covered. Just let us know your name and shipping address and we’ll mail you complimentary samples of each available finish—absolutely free. This way, you can make sure your new bed matches your style and space perfectly before making any decisions.

Question 12.

How can customers request a specific mattress firmness when ordering?

Requesting Your Preferred Mattress Firmness

Mattresses included as accessories will be provided with Medium firmness by default. However, if you prefer a softer or firmer feel, simply specify your desired firmness in the Special Instructions box during checkout. We’ll ensure your selection is matched for a comfortable night’s sleep with your new loft or bunk bed.

Question 13.

What is Rush Production, and how quickly can an order be shipped with this service?

Need It Faster? Check Out Rush Production

If you're in a hurry and need your loft bed shipped out sooner, we offer a Rush Production option. For an additional 0 per bed, we'll move your order to the front of the line and have it on its way to you within just 15 business days. Perfect for tight timelines—whether it's for a new semester, moving day, or any last-minute plans. Simply select Rush Production during checkout, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Question 14.

What accessories are available to support memory foam mattresses on bunk beds?

Memory Foam Mattress Support Options

If you’re thinking about using a memory foam mattress, it’s important to provide a stable, flat surface to prevent sagging between the slats. To make sure your mattress stays comfortable and well-supported, you have two accessory options to choose from:

  • Masonite Boards: Two 1/8" masonite boards, one for each sleeping platform, create a continuous flat foundation beneath your memory foam mattress.
  • Extra Slats: Prefer a more traditional look? Opt for additional slats to ensure closer spacing, giving your mattress the firm support it needs.

Both options can be selected with your bed order under Accessories for a little extra peace of mind—and a good night’s sleep.

Question 15.

What should you do if you want to use a memory foam mattress with a bunk bed?

Using Memory Foam Mattresses with Your Loft Bed

Thinking about a memory foam mattress? Great choice for comfort! Just remember, memory foam needs solid support so it won’t sag between the slats. To make your mattress last and feel its best, you’ll need a smooth, flat surface under it.

We offer a couple of solutions:

  • Masonite Board Support: Add a pair of thin masonite boards—one for each bunk—so your mattress stays protected and supported.
  • Extra Slats: Prefer a sturdier foundation? Opt for additional slats to create a denser base beneath the mattress.

You can select either upgrade as an accessory when assembling your bed. Both options will ensure your memory foam keeps its shape, giving you a supportive and comfortable night’s rest.

Question 16.

What are the shipping options and restrictions for locations outside the contiguous United States?

Shipping Outside the Contiguous U.S.

If you need your bed shipped beyond the 48 contiguous states—such as Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or even Canada—we’ve got you covered. Additional shipping fees will apply for these destinations, and certain restrictions may be in place based on location. For more details on costs or to check delivery availability in your area, please contact us before placing your order.

Question 17.

Why did Better Homes & Gardens name a Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed the "Best for Adults"?

Why Did Better Homes & Gardens Name the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed "Best for Adults"?

Better Homes & Gardens gave the Queen Over Queen Bunk Bed their "Best for Adults" title for a few simple reasons. First, the modern design blends seamlessly with a range of décor styles, making it a practical centerpiece rather than an eyesore. Second, it's actually built for grown-ups: the sturdy construction holds up to everyday use, and the queen-sized mattresses mean you’re not stuck with cramped quarters (no more knees dangling off the edge).

The space-saving features also played a big part—if you’re furnishing a guest room, rental property, or a vacation spot where comfort matters, stacking two spacious beds is a game-changer. Adults get the best of both worlds: comfort and functionality without sacrificing style.

Question 18.

What qualities led The Spruce to name certain adult bunk beds as the "Best Customizable Bunk Bed"?

Qualities Recognized by The Spruce

When it comes to standing out in a crowded field of adult bunk beds, The Spruce looked for several key qualities before awarding the title of "Best Customizable Bunk Bed." Their top pick earned praise for its impressive weight capacity—supporting up to 2,000 lbs—which speaks to both its durability and solid construction.

Another standout feature was the ability to tailor the bed to your exact needs. Whether you want to adjust the size, tweak the height, select your preferred finish, or add helpful accessories, the level of customization ensures that these bunk beds can fit just about any space or style. This flexibility makes them ideal for everything from shared bedrooms to guest accommodations.

In short, strong build quality, a generous range of options, and the freedom to personalize every detail were the main reasons these beds came out on top in The Spruce’s review.

PARTIALLY ANSWERED QUESTIONS

Question 1.

What are the features and storage options for staircases added to bunk beds?

Full Answer Combined with Your Original

This frame is SO sturdy! My adult sons are both over 300 lbs so I was a bit hesitant to order a frame online. Frame arrived in 3 HEAVY boxes (we live on the 3rd floor & had to help the delivery guy get them to our apartment!) Then assembly began. Did I mention how sturdy this frame is?

We also built the stair/book case. It definitely makes getting up to the top bunk easier. For anyone curious about the staircase option, it’s a solid wood structure that supports up to 500 lbs (yes, you read that right). We chose the 4-step version, which measures about 60” long by 21” wide by 48” high—perfect for our setup. There are open cubbies under the steps that are surprisingly roomy; we use them to stash books, shoes, and whatever else needs a home. If you’re looking for extra security, there’s also an option to add a handrail to the stairs, which is a nice touch for nighttime climbs.

Overall, the combo of the sturdy frame and the thoughtful staircase design really gives peace of mind—and some much-needed storage!

Question 2.

Can ladders be detached and placed anywhere on the bunk bed?

Full Answer Combined with Your Original

(Our Tongue & Groove Construction)
Give This Bunk-Bed Superior Support And Stability. The Integrated (Notched) Ladders At Both Ends Enable You To Position The Loft-Bed In Any Corner And Will Give You Full Access To The Front Of The Loft.

Versatile Ladder Placement

For added flexibility, the ladder can be detached and used anywhere along the bunk bed’s frame. This allows you to tailor ladder placement to your room’s unique layout, ensuring easy access no matter where the bed is positioned. Just keep in mind, if the top and bottom bunks are different sizes, you won’t be able to use the ladder on the side where the lower bunk extends beyond the top. Thanks to its secure clips on the sturdy aluminum frame, the ladder stays firmly in place during use, so you’ll never have to worry about stability while climbing up or down.

Question 5.

What types of mattresses are recommended for bunk beds?

Full Answer Combined with Your Original

We assume you will use an 8 In. Mattress which will give you a clearance of about 37 In. For the 69 In. Leg or 49 In. For the 83 In. Legs. If you need more clearance you would need to use a thinner mattress and let us know the size.

Mattress Compatibility & Options

Our bunk beds are designed to accept standard innerspring mattresses—no box spring is needed. We recommend using a mattress with a thickness between 8 and 12 inches for optimal comfort and safety.

Memory Foam Mattresses:
If you plan to use a memory foam mattress, please note that memory foam requires a solid, supportive base to prevent sagging between the slats. To accommodate this, we offer two solutions:

  • Masonite Board Support: Add two 1/8” thick masonite boards (one for each sleeping platform) for an additional 5.
  • Extra Slats: Upgrade to additional slats for 0 to create a flatter, more even support.

Both options are available as Accessories when you build your bed.

If you’d like to include a mattress with your order, let us know—we provide quality memory foam mattresses in five firmness levels (default is Medium). Just specify your preference in the Notes at checkout.

Question 6.

How are bunk beds packaged for delivery?

Full Answer Combined with Your Original

This frame is SO sturdy! My adult sons are both over 300 lbs so I was a bit hesitant to order a frame online. Frame arrived in 3 HEAVY boxes (we live on the 3rd floor & had to help the delivery guy get them to our apartment!)

For those curious about delivery, the bed comes well-packaged in multiple large, hefty boxes—expect a real workout on stairs or tight hallways. Accessories or add-ons may come in their own separate boxes, so plan for a full hallway on delivery day. Everything was tightly packed and arrived in great condition, with all necessary parts included for assembly.

Question 7.

What are the current shipping and delivery lead times for bunk beds?

Full Answer Combined with Your Original

Most Product Leave Our Warehouse Within 24 Hours.

We do our best to get your order to you as quickly as possible, and you'll receive an estimated shipping window once your order is processed.
